Eons ago, I remember hearing on TV (on Nickelodeon, no less) that if the first words you say on the first day of a new month are "rabbit, rabbit" you will have good luck the rest of the month.
Always one to never let a good superstition pass her by (and also always one looking for some good luck) I gave it a try. There were times I even stayed up until midnight just to make sure I didn't talk in my sleep and blow the whole thing.
After a few months of very, VERY scientific experimentation, I concluded that "rabbit, rabbit" was pure baloney. In fact, in my mind it seemed to do the exact opposite, and just give me more bad luck. Believe me. I already have plenty of that all on my lonesome. I certainly don't need any help in that category.
So, here I am, about 20 (gulp) years later, still looking for some good luck. Any tips on your best good luck charm? I could certainly use some this month.
That is so funny...I had a women I worked with who swore if you turn all your calenders to the next month on the last day of that month you would have GREAT luck.....she got let go. :)

I tell myself I'm not superstitious, but I do "knock wood" if I say anything that could jinx myself.
ReplyDeleteI remember that one! Good to know it never worked. Haha, I always forget.
ReplyDeleteBoy if you ever figure out that whole luck thing, let me know! I ould use some!
OK, so, note to self, turning the calendar over on the last day might not be so lucky after all!
ReplyDeleteI will absolutely admit to being pretty superstitious. Knock on wood, throw salt over the shoulder, the whole bit. My logical side acknowledges that it's silly, but my illogical side keeps saying, "But what if...." Illogical wins every single time.
ReplyDeleteYeah, don't waste your time on that one. But if I ever find the perfect combination of things to say/do to get some good luck, I will be sure to pass it along!
